Who is responsible

Email updates

If you subscribe, your email address is used to manage the subscription and send updates about EUROCENTRIC and new work on European history.

The legal basis is your consent. When you submit the form, the address is added to EUROCENTRIC’s update list. The subscription record includes the time, source and recorded consent field.

You can withdraw consent at any time through the unsubscribe link in every notification or by emailing the address above. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawful use of your details before withdrawal.

Email-list retention

• Active subscriber details are kept until you unsubscribe or ask for deletion.
• After an unsubscribe request, a minimal suppression record may be kept for as long as needed to honour that choice and prevent accidental re-subscription. It is not used to send messages.

Services that process information

Brevo processes subscriber details, subscription, delivery and unsubscribe records as a data processor for EUROCENTRIC. Brevo processes this information on Bård Standal’s documented instructions under a data processing agreement. You can read Brevo’s privacy information.

EUROCENTRIC does not ask subscribers for separate email-pixel tracking consent. Brevo is therefore configured not to attach recipient-level open or click tracking to contacts whose tracking consent is unknown.

GitHub Pages hosts and delivers the public site. Like any hosting service, it necessarily receives connection and request metadata to deliver and secure the pages. EUROCENTRIC does not receive GitHub Pages’ raw server logs. This necessary processing is based on the legitimate interest in operating a secure public website. See the GitHub General Privacy Statement.

These providers publish information about their subprocessors and international-transfer arrangements. Their current notices and the applicable data processing agreements govern those arrangements.

Browser preferences

If you dismiss the email invitation, EUROCENTRIC stores a first-party functional preference in your browser’s local storage for seven days. It records only that the invitation was dismissed, so that it does not interrupt you again during that period. It is not used to identify you, measure your reading or share information with another service.

After a successful signup, a second functional preference records that the invitation should not be shown again. It remains until you clear the site’s browser data. Neither preference contains a name, email address or Brevo identifier.

You can remove the preference at any time by clearing site data in your browser. The invitation will then be eligible to appear again.

Your rights

You may ask for access to the personal information held about you, have inaccurate information corrected, request deletion or restriction, and receive the information you supplied in a portable format where applicable. You may also withdraw consent at any time.
